Options for completing Code of Ethics
1. The Board offers several courses throughout the year in cooperation with the Greater Providence Board of REALTORS®. They are approved for 3 core Rhode Island Real Estate licensee continuing education credits and are 3 hours in length. Click here to sign up for our next class offering
2. The National Association of REALTORS® also offers an online course through this link. You will be asked to enter your 9-digit NRDS (National REALTOR® Database System) number. This is your membership identification number with the REALTOR® Association and you all new members receive it in their welcome email from the Rhode Island Commercial and Appraisal Board of REALTORS®. There will be an opportunity to locate that number on the above link should you have misplaced your welcome email. The online course is not approved for any Rhode Island real estate licensee continuing education credits and is 2 ½ – 3 hours in length. You may stop the course, if need be, and return to it at a later date.
3. Finally, a third option is to complete Course # C007 (Commercial Ethics) with our online education parter, The CE Shop.
If you are unsure of whether you have completed this required course, please contact us for assistance at info@ricabor.realtor (401) 274-8386. There are no exceptions to this new member course requirement.
*As a point of reference, REALTOR® isn’t a synonym for real estate broker or real estate salesperson. A REALTOR®, simply put, is an individual who has voluntarily sought membership in the REALTOR® Association and abides by the Code of Ethics of the NAR. A REALTOR® is someone who is licensed as either a real estate salesperson or broker, appraiser, auctioneer, counselor or property manager. The REALTOR® Association’s Bylaws require all REALTOR® members to complete the New Member Orientation Program.
