At our annual meeting on 10/3/18, our Charity Task Force presented The Village For RI Foster & Adoptive Families a check for $3,750.
Throughout 2018, we will be supporting The Village. Formed in 2016, The Village is a registered 501C3 non-profit organization with the IRS and RI Secretary of State. It is Rhode Island’s only foster and adoptive family founded and governed support organization. Its mission is to contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust network of healthy, committed, and well-trained resource families for children in RI needing out-of-home care.
The Board was pleased to present Foster Forward with a $2,000 donation at its 10/3/17 Annual Meeting. Through a wide range of innovative programs and services, they assist foster families as they navigate the child welfare system, prepare foster children and teens to live independently and empower them to become successful adults. They serve 1600 clients each year. The $2,000 donation was made possible by the fundraising efforts of our members. In addition, the Board held a Spring pajama drive for middle and high schoolers, assisted at their family appreciation day the Impossible Dream Playground in May and was the proud sponsor of the teal blue lighting of the State House dome in Providence, RI, May 22nd - May 28th to bring awareness of May as National Foster Awareness Month!
RICABOR donates $2,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence 10/4/16: In addition to Board volunteers assisting with a Spring cleanup, they worked to execute a successful fundraiser this past July to benefit the Providence Boys and Girls Clubs. James Moore, 2016 President, presented the proceeds to Nicole Dufresne, Executive Director, on 10/4/16. Forty-two percent of Providence children live in poverty and the Providence Boys and Girls Clubs provide important before and after school care, character and leadership development, health and life skills, sports and recreation services to over 5,000 members. The Board will also be seeking grants from the National Association of REALTORS® to further beautify the Clubs’ headquarters and for the uplift and cleanup of Providence’s Fargnoli Park.
